We aren’t built for taking chances

When it comes to placing bets, we never want to wager.

We’re just not built for taking chances. So why we decided to risk our summer comfort on a heat pump that we knew could fail, we still don’t understand. That experience reminded us that we don’t have the nerves for gambling. Yet, we took that important gamble on that old heat pump and it sure was a failure. We knew better than gambling on anything much less the quality heating and air of our house. During summer, the heating entirely wasn’t the problem. Our Heating, Ventilation and A/C serviceman was out to do the cooling system tune up last Spring. This is when she told us that the heat pump was about to be done. We tried to pin her down on how much time we had left, however, she could not be that certain. She did tell us though once it broke, it could not be fixed again. That made a lot of sense and it would have made more sense to just update the heat pump. We had started saving for a Heating, Ventilation and A/C replacement years before. But that money got reallocated to other priorities. In order to save a bit more money, we decided to roll the dice on the old heat pump last summer. We even did the best we could to reduce the load on the heat pump. We made it all the way to mid October before things went horribly wrong. The worst part of the whole thing was we had to wait 4 weeks before we could get modern Heating, Ventilation and A/C units due to supply chain complications. We’re sure glad to have the modern heat pump and not have to risk that sort of Heating, Ventilation and A/C comfort again.
