My father has regularly been odd, but he got worse when mom and I started an pet shelter in our backyard.
Both of us thought it would be our donation to the pet community, but dad hated it.
Both of us had to install a weird Heating, Ventilation & A/C system in the house, and all of us needed to make swings in the backyard. He walked around grumbling about how much it cost to have an pet shelter, and how he was tired of it, and there weren’t any pets yet. He and mom argued about the cost of the current air filters, and that she didn’t want an air purification system until all of us talked about the pets. He said he had wanted a current Heating, Ventilation & A/C system, but the cost was regularly prohibitive. Mom thought that rescuing pets and finding homes for them was more pressing than the cost of a current Heating, Ventilation & A/C system. I could understand dad’s complications, but I also knew how mom felt. When dad moved into the garage, I knew it was more drastic than I had imagined. He called the Heating, Ventilation & A/C supplier and had a current ductless Heating, Ventilation & A/C system installed. While waiting for the Heating, Ventilation & A/C system, he had a washroom installed, complete with a shower, and petitioned off an area for a private kitchen. The lock on the door was the final straw for mom, then she said she didn’t get married to sleep alone, but dad told her he didn’t get married to have pets take over his home. I could see my family falling apart, but as deep into pet rescuing as mom was, I could only see it getting worse.
