My uncle owns a local HVAC company.
After I graduated from HVAC technical school and had my certification, he invited me to work for him.
I talked to my dad to see what he thought about my working for Uncle Raul. I knew dad had started the HVAC company with him, but within a year, he quit and went with the HVAC company he is still working for. Dad told me that if I wanted to go with an HVAC company, I should talk to my instructor. Normally, the instructor would ask some students if they wanted to do an internship at their HVAC company. I hadn’t received an invitation from mine, but I will go to the school and talk to him. When I walked into the classroom prior to other students arriving, my instructor smiled and shook my hand. I told him my dilemma and asked if he had any information about other HVAC company. He didn’t know I was the nephew of Raul of Raul’s HVAC. He told me he wouldn’t work there, because they didn’t have a teaching program for new hirees. They didn’t pay very well, either. He said about two other local HVAC companies which he could recommend. He then asked if I was interested in an internship. He had hired two of the students as apprentices, but he had an internship which would get me prepared to work for them. I took the internship. Within three weeks, they hired me as a full time HVAC technician. My father was glad I didn’t go with Raul’s HVAC.
