Not a fan of the southwest style

Now the home is a lot better

I moved into a home that had a very bold style and I looked it up. It is a southwest style that was in my home. I really didn’t like it. It was all desert style and bright colors. There were a lot of browns, golds, reds, and tans. I thought it was kind of like an old west theme and was tacky. So many people love the southwest style of home. They even have a variation called southwest sparkler. That wasn’t for me at all. I talked to an interior designer once I got comfortable in my home. I wanted to change the house as best as I could. I didn’t want those colors, fabrics, and the theme splashed in the home. I wanted it modern, classic, and clean. When you have so many wood tones, brown furniture, and tan rugs, you are a bit limited. I couldn’t have gone from a southwest sparkler bedroom to a glamor bedroom. I was able to do a transitional style though. This is where you take the classic look and make it a bit funky. I was able to leave the wood and some warm tones while adding in splashes of grays and blacks. Thank goodness the interior designer was the one coming up with where to add what. I would have made a mess of colors and patterns. Fighting the house theme is next to impossible. Now the home is a lot better. Anytime I update a space, I remove the wood and change it to metal. Eventually my transitional style is going to be a traditional style.
