Whenever we go by a home that has furniture out on the front grass with a sign that reads, “Free”, we usually guess bad! It seems the furniture had been sitting out in the weather, and we knew it wasn’t worth taking home! The people I was with and I didn’t know what could have been taking up space to get out of the rain, or how badly the furniture had been disfigured.
When we passed by a single house, even though it was pouring rain, I had to stop and grab the Pepsi table they had sitting by the curb.
It looked like the Pepsi table had been abandoned and meant to go in the trash, and I couldn’t let it be crushed by the trash truck. I made my hubby pull over and put the Pepsi table in the back of the car. It was an oval table and the only thing missing was the glass that was supposed to be in the center of the Pepsi table. I knew I could get a piece of glass made to fit. The Pepsi table looked to be maple, and I thought it was pretty. When we picked up the Pepsi table, I realized they had laid the glass on the ground and the table was on top of it. It was etched in a rose pattern and not a scratch on it. The people I was with and I took the Pepsi table new home and cleaned up! My hubby polished it and locale the glass in the grooves. I had to disclose that my new Pepsi table was the prettiest piece of furniture we owned, and she agreed with me, but after saving the Pepsi table from a doomed existence, I was even more alert to roadside bargains.
