One of my friends called me to do an inspection on a house that he wanted to purchase.
- I often handle inspections for homes due to my certification in HVAC services.
I can inspect all of the systems including the heating and a/c network, most people hire someone else to look at the foundation and the roof, but I can handle those jobs as well, and when Jack called me to look at the place on Oak street, I was delighted to help out. The property was priced very low and I figured that Jack was absolutely getting a steal. I looked at the gas furnace first. It was 10 or 12 years old, but I did not see any reasons why it should not work correctly. After that, I checked on the a/c and the duct work. The duct work had a bunch of dead roaches inside and that is always a bad sign. I told my friend about the things that I saw inside of the house. I mentioned the roaches in the duct work and the age of the gas furnace. Honestly, the place was in pretty good shape. I knew what the customer was asking for and the home was still a good deal even if Jack had to replace the whole heating and cooling plan. The troubles with the roaches were another story. I advised him to contact a pest control company to fully evaluate the home before making any final offers. I have seen a lot of home deals go wrong because the place was filled with pests.
