Making sure the a/c is ready for summer

As the summertime closes in, it’s crucial to make sure your AC is in great working order, but a well-maintained AC component will not only keep your home cool and comfortable while in the hottest months, however it will also help to improve air quality and reduce energy consumption. So to make things a bit easier for you we are going to give you a few tips for prepping your AC for summertime. Schedule a tune-up with a heating and cooling pro or contact a heating and cooling contractor and speak to an heating and cooling rep about what you want to do. This will ensure that your AC component is operating at peak efficiency, then check your thermostat. During the summertime, you’ll want to set it to around 72 degrees, however if you have a heat pump, be sure to set it to “cooling” mode. Inspect your AC unit! Make sure there are no leaves or other debris blocking the coils or fan. Also, check for any signs of wear and tear. If you notice any problems, be sure to call heating and cooling pro right away. Change your AC filter or clean the filter if it is a washable type filter. A clean filter will help to improve air flow and keep dust and allergens out of your home. If you have a normal throwaway filter switch to a HEPA washable type filter which will filter out more allergens and things that pass through the normal kind of filters, however by following these easy tips, you can help keep your AC component running smoothly all summer long.
