When I was talking to my brother the other day, I was surprised when he told me he recently installed his own HVAC system.
I had to ask how in the world he was able to manage such a thing.
I actually called around to different HVAC companies and got quotes for different types of HVAC installations. When my brother said he installed a ductless mini split, that shocked me even more. One of the HVAC companies recommended going for a ductless mini split system, talking about how energy efficient it was and how I could have a bunch of different zones with customized temperature control settings. My brother smiled and said that he installed 4 zones on his own. He said he was considering going for a 5 zone system, but they were out of stock when he went to purchase his system. He explained that the system was delivered quickly, and the delivery was actually free! He then went on to tell me that he studied different installation videos until he was confident he could take care of the installation on his own. He actually went for a DIY system with all the wiring labeled and the line sets color coded for easy installation. He told me he thought the installation would be more difficult, but it was actually fairly straightforward. When I asked him if he could help me with this type of installation, he said it would be no problem. I’m really excited because next week, I should be getting the new HVAC system, and my brother said to call him as soon as it arrives at my home!
