Something I never realized was that you could have different zones with your HVAC system.
Even with your existing HVAC system, you can have air handlers installed or dampers for customized temperature control settings in different rooms.
This is something I decided to do recently after consulting with a local contractor. The choice was somewhat difficult at first because I had to decide whether I should just install a new ductless HVAC system or upgrade my ducted system. Given, the upgrade was way cheaper, but I won’t enjoy massive energy savings like I would with a new ductless system. Still, the HVAC system is only 8 years old, so I have at least another 7 years keeping the HVAC running strong with regular maintenance and care. That’s ultimately the reason why I just upgraded the HVAC, so I didn’t have to empty my savings account and that the system has plenty of life left. It was a tough decision though, especially since my wife kept saying how she wanted something modern. She was especially looking forward to not having to use ductwork anymore which makes the air quality bad if you don’t get regular ductwork cleaning services. Still, I don’t mind the ductwork cleaning services, I figured we could just make do over the years. The upgrade with HVAC zone control is still awesome! All the rooms have their own thermostats now, and the kids really appreciate it too. Now I can have perfect cooling through the night without bothering the rest of the house or spiking the energy bills too much. We actually have been saving a pretty good amount of money since the upgrade, so we’re all pleased about that.
