I toil as a consultant within the private university system! I travel a lot for toil both in the state that I live in and out of town! The universitys are scattered all over the country so at any given time, I could be away for work. Typically, my assignments require that I am gone for 6 or more weeks… And while that is a long time to be away from home, I have grown used to it, especially now that I have been using corporate housing instead of hotels. I remember when I first began to travel, and I stayed in hotel suites for weeks at a time. It was so painful not being able to cook or eat the things I wanted to because the hotels didn’t have the necessary amenities. I switched from hotels after meeting another consultant at a conference who told me about his corporate apartment and how much he appreciated it. That day my entire life changed and traveling became so much better. I began to stay in corporate apartments and fell in prefer with them, and not only did these apartments have the same amenities as a hotel that include a gym, office space, pool, and more, however they were also cheaper than staying in a hotel. Additionally, the apartments have fully stocked dining rooms, so I was able to cook my meal and they have enough room for me to entertain family and friends without feeling prefer the two of us are cramped in a small space. One thing’s for sure, when I travel for work, I will skip the hotel and opt for a corporate apartment instead.
