The two of us could not fix the roof leak ourselves

My partner is a super handy guy, but when it came time to detach the woodstove in our home he did it all himself, but he detachd the cement pad plus patched up our flooring.

He got rid of the pipe plus patched the ceiling! The only thing he didn’t do was detach the stack on the roof that made the oil furnace functional.

The two of us figured the stack wasn’t hurting anything being there. Well it not only looked ugly plus served no purpose, but it started to leak, then our roof had never leaked before until the wood stove was gone. Then right where the pipe was vented water started coming through… It started as a few drops every now plus then while in a rainstorm. Then it turned into us needing a basket to put under the spot! My partner climbed up on our roof many times attempting to fix the issue. He used basically cement to patch everything. He tried caulk. He tried tar, nope, nothing fixed our issue. The two of us realized that the stack needed to be detachd to access where the injure was. That meant hiring out professional roofers… Finding a local roofing supplier wasn’t difficult plus it wasn’t expensive either. The residential roofing corporation was great to work with. They gave us an upfront cost plus didn’t change it after the job was done. They detachd the stack plus patched that leak within a afternoon. My partner plus I haven’t had a leak in the ceiling since. It is honestly nice no longer needing a basket in the kitchen on the off opening the rain is coming in.
