This week one of my new commercial customers tried to write a check for repairs on the heating and air conditioning system. Repairs for the central heating and air conditioning system totaled $12,000. I honestly did not want the customer to write a check. I thought we we’re going to do a cash transaction. Checks can be a lot of problems, because they take forever to clear the bank. I contacted the bank manager to see if the account was good and she told me that the commercial customer had a good account and she said that she could verify the amounts of the check if she had a few minutes. The bank manager seemed to take forever to okay the checks. She said it would take a few minutes, but it actually took 20 minutes. I sat inside of my car the whole time. I was sitting outside of a customer’s house while trying to take care of the problem. I’m sure the woman must have thought I was stalking her, because I sat in the driveway for such a long time after I was finished with the residential heating tune up. when the bank manager finally came back to the line to give me an update. She said that the checks were good and even spoke with the owner of the company to make sure that I could go right to the bank and cash them. I did exactly that. As soon as I got the checks for $12,000, I went to the city bank to get the funds in cash.
