Whenever the people I was with and I go by a apartment that has furniture out on the front turf with a sign that reads, “Free”, the people I was with and I usually assume bad! It seems the furniture had been standing out in the weather, & the people I was with and I knew it wasn’t worth taking home, and the two of us didn’t guess what could have been taking up space to get out of the rain, or how badly the furniture had been disfigured, and when the people I was with and I passed by 1 house, even though it was pouring rain, I had to stop & grab the coffee table they had standing by the curb.

• It looked appreciate the coffee table had been abandoned & meant to go in the trash, & I couldn’t let it be crushed by the trash truck.

I made my spouse pull over & put the coffee table in the back of the car. It was an oval table & the only thing missing was the glass that was supposed to be in the center of the coffee table. I knew I could get a piece of glass made to fit. The coffee table looked to be maple, & I thought it was pretty. When the people I was with and I picked up the coffee table, I realized they had laid the glass on the ground & the table was on top of it. It was etched in a rose pattern & not a scratch on it. The two of us took the coffee table beach apartment & cleaned up; My spouse polished it & stadium the glass in the grooves. I had to divulge that my modern coffee table was the prettiest piece of furniture the people I was with and I owned, & he agreed with me; After saving the coffee table from a doomed existence, I was even more alert to roadside bargains.

My wife and I went to the hardware store to get a new lawn mower and a couple of shovels.

We were working on backyard renovations during our week-long stay at home vacation.

We had tons of chores that we wanted to catch up on and the two of us thought we would work on that list instead of spending money going to the beach or the mountains. We realized that the mower was broken on the first day of vacation so we went to the hardware store to pick out a new one. While we were there, we browsed much of the selection in the clearance aisle. The hardware store had a couple of HVAC units in the clearance sale. They were dented up quite a bit, but they were still in decent shape. I told my wife that we should buy all of the air conditioners. I honestly thought I could resell them online for a profit. She didn’t want me to waste $2,000 on a couple of air conditioners that might not ever sell. The value was just too good to pass up. Even though we quarreled for several hours later that day, I used my credit card to purchase all of the AC units that were on sale. I put them in the garage until it was time for summer and then I listed them on the marketplace for $100 below the store value. I still made $100 profit if the person agreed to pay the price that I had listed. I honestly think I could have added another 50 bucks to the price. All four of the additional AC units sold on the very first day that I put them on the marketplace.

I did not feel very well on Tuesday and I tried to call my boss to tell her that I was too sick to come to work.

She reminded me that I called in sick last week. I was playing hooky then. I went to the beach with some friends. It’s probably where I picked up the bug that was making me feel so awful. I told my boss that I was really sick and she told me to come into work anyways. I got dressed and put on a uniform and went to work. The boss stuck me at the counter. I sneezed and coughed a bunch that morning. She finally believed that I was sick when I threw up at lunch time. She had me standing under the AC air vent the whole time I was at the register. The AC air vent was blowing cold air on me and it was making me feel even worse. I wanted to leave and go home, but my boss made me work until 8:00 p.m. when someone else came to work to relieve me. The next day I did not go to work. I called my boss and when she answered I did not give her any option to say no. After being stuck under the air vent all day, I felt even worse than I did before I went to work. There was absolutely no way that I was going to subject myself to the indoor air conditions again just to satisfy my boss. I didn’t think she could fire me, so I stayed home to recuperate and get better.

There was a pretty big fire just south of town and things escalated very quickly.

• The fire started in a residential home when the furnace became engulfed in flames.

The fire quickly spread to the neighbor’s house, because there was a wood structure practically connecting the two properties. I got called after the fire to clean up all of the mess. I work for a company that handles heating, ventilation, and AC repairs. We also handle plumbing and mold remediation work. Oftentimes these jobs go hand and hand. When you have a full-service operation, you can handle any problem that comes in the way and that means that our customers can count on us for a number of different services. The insurance company assigned me to one of the properties. I got to work as soon as I entered the building. It smelled of smoked drastically and most things were still covered with soot or a watery mess. I removed all of the soot from the heating and cooling system including sanitizing and cleaning all of the air vents and ductwork. When I left the place, it smelled better and could have been rented. If they get rid of all of the junk and damage from the fire, I honestly don’t think they will have any problem renting out the house to someone else. The fire didn’t take the whole building and I felt certain that the insurance company was going to cover all of the damages since they sent me out there to clean up the heating and AC system.

 

 

Residential heat and AC

I took an Uber downtown yesterday and I met some friends at the club.

We hung out, drank some beers, and listened to music.

I didn’t really meet anyone interesting and I had to work the next morning, so I went home. I contacted another Uber to take me back to the house. The same person did not show up to pick me up. That didn’t surprise me, because there are hundreds of different Uber drivers in the city. The woman that picked me up had the heat on in her car even though it was 70° outside. She looked like she was cold, but I was warm and uncomfortable. I told the woman that I thought it was very warm and I asked if she would mind turning off the heat. She gave me a look, but she did turn the heater off. I rolled my window down a small amount to get rid of the muggy and sticky atmosphere. The driver looked at me and asked if I would roll up the window because she was very cold. I didn’t talk to the woman the rest of the time about the temperature. I just wanted to get back to my house in one piece. I was a little drunk, so maybe the temperature problems were all on me. Either way, I didn’t want to cause a big scene or some kind of commotion. As soon as I got back to my house, I adjusted the thermostat on my air conditioner to make it a little bit cooler in the house for the rest of the evening.

I’ll give you a quick recipe for a salad I eat almost every day. I begin with spinach leaves chopped up nice and good and then add chopped cucumber, onion, and green pepper. I sprinkle in some provenza herbs and some salt and pepper, then we add some olive oil and vinegar. I then add a can of tuna, some crushed up tortilla snacks, and top it off with some picante salsa. Give it a try, it’s pretty darn good. The guy who owns the heating and A/C business near me gave me the recipe and I added the tortilla chips and salsa to it. I learned about it when I had to call a heating and A/C expert to come repair our air conditioning. He told us about a salad he eats each day and gave me his recipe, which I then modified to give it a little tex mex kind of flare. I like to eat it on hot summer days when I am home in our cool house. I am planning on cleaning our HEPA filter today because I observed a reduced air flow from the vents over the past few months. I was going to call the local business to have them come and clean our heating and A/C idea but I wanted to begin with cleaning the filter to see if it makes any difference. I like to get our air conditioning taken care of once a year to prevent it from breaking down. I have a few space heating systems for the winter time as our central heating unit costs too much to run. I think I need to get it taken care of too.
