The first four years up here were not exactly what Steve would call being in his element.

• Work wasn’t easy as there was an important learning curve to his new position.

Steve doesn’t think he socialized but at holidays when friends or family would come to visit. And even then, it was right back to the zone controlled Heating and A/C of the office that he was not accountable for. This was a sizable step in his work. While Steve was sure that he was up to it. Those first years would test him and his resolve more than ever before. However, he would never have applied for the position if he didn’t think he could do it. The fact is, he’d been working more than 18 years for the same corporation and looking for this sort of challenge. It’s just that this opportunity was more than he expected. Actually, when Steve got here, this regional office was a total dumpster fire. The previous 2 supervisors had been let go because they couldn’t save the place. And when he got here, this locale was hemorrhaging money and the morale was even worse. Throw in the fact that Steve had never lived and worked above the Mason Dixon line and it was a massive change. The small condo he purchased came with a heating system that he inherited. Actually, this was a quick sale because he agreed to take the property as is for the right price. That worked out for him financially and shelter wise, but it was far from comfortable just like being in the office. Steve replaced all of the residential Heating and A/C and now has a heat pump that comes with a new heating system. This winter time was the loveliest ever inside his home.

Olivia learned so much from her realtor when it came to selling her lake house.

It’s hard to believe that she is 54 years old and this is the first time she has ever sold a house.

The only other time Olivia dealt with a realtor was when she bought the one she just sold. Olivia was so excited to walk into a newly built lake house with appliances and Heating and A/C components that were also all brand new. She still can see it in her mind like it was yesterday or something. For sure, a seminal moment in her life. She doesn’t think the plan was to live inside the central cooling of that lake house for as long as she did. But it turned out to be just the perfect locale to raise her children. Now, the nest is empty and the real estate market is ideal. So it seemed like selling the lake house might be the way to go. But it was the seasoned Heating and A/C unit that tipped the scale for her. Once it went down for good, Olivia knew it was time to replace the residential Heating and A/C and get on with listing the lake house. Her realtor was so on top of just what she needed to do as far as improvements. When it came to new residential Heating and A/C, Olivia listened to her about the sort of Heating and A/C technology buyers certainly wanted. With that information, she went to the Heating and A/C company who has taken care of all of her all these years. They were great and got Olivia the best residential Heating and A/C which added important value to her home. Selling the lake house was tougher than she thought it was going to be emotionally. Seriously. The humidity level sure is on top already. But mom thinks she shouldn’t be all that shocked given that she is now approaching June. Still, walking out this day to get the mail was a great reminder that she is for real entering Summer. It was so thick and hot outside and it was not yet noon. But mom could feel the hot humidity draped around her as though it were some sort of moist cloak that wasn’t in the drier long enough. When she walked back inside the central cooling of the cabin, it was so refreshing. That’s the first time mom has felt that yet this year. The cooling unit is certainly just for spot use during the hottest days of the day during the Spring. But once she gets to about now, the thermostat setting is left on cool and mom starts to program the digital thermostat. She can deal with temperatures in the 90’s. It’s not like mom wants to just stay in the sun during the peak heating hours of the day. But she can handle the higher temps fairly well. It’s just when you add in all of that humidity that being outside becomes too much. This is why mom is so thankful that she is getting more than just cooling from the HVAC cooling. The AC process is also reduced and balances the humidity levels inside the cabin. That makes for that refreshing, crisp feeling when you walk in from being outside in the Summer. Mom prefers that feeling.

Wesley is still sort of not sure on just how exactly the AC tune up got by him this past Spring.

• But it sure did and now, he is paying the price for that lapse in mental acuity.

Mostly, Wesley is all over getting the AC maintenance done like in March. Where he lives, the furnace is quiet all Winter. There’s virtually no demand for heating down here. Sure, there is the once a winter time thing where Wesley might have to bring in the plants. But even that’s quite rare. And when that takes place, he doesn’t even bother with the thermostat as he opts for the space heater instead. Spring comes early as the pollen is covering the trucks by Valentine’s Day. For certain, the main heating and cooling problem of his entire year is the Summer heat and humidity. So how in the world was Wesley not on top of his game this year for it to be Summer already. He is now smack in the middle of May and the humidity is already at Summer levels. Fortunately for him, the temperature hasn’t fully kicked in yet but still, he is in the AC portion of his annual program around here. The Spring is enjoyed with the doors and windows open so he is getting more accustomed to the heat. That way, Wesley needs less AC in the Summer and he keeps the cooling costs sufficient. But that certainly doesn’t matter if the AC doesn’t work. He turned the thermostat over to cool and left it last week. It took four afternoons before the thing just stopped working. Now, Wesley has to pay for an Heating and A/C repair that never would have been necessary had he gotten the AC tune up.

Jeff has managed to reclaim the basement.

And now, because of the Heating and A/C tech, he has the space he can go for a bit of quiet and to be alone. To be clear, Jeff adores his family. They are the center of his life and the greatest motivator for him to spend all the hours he does inside the commercial Heating and A/C of the office. Jeff is enriched every single day by all of those ladies and couldn’t be more grateful to be hubby, partner and father to his teens. But frankly, those ladies can get loud and stay loud. When his daughters were younger, they’d walk into the central cooling of the house and they’d all come running. Jeff was their king and it never felt better to be the king. He enjoyed that feeling of being their daddy. He is still their daddy but they’d much rather he not be around so much because he embarrasses them in front of their pals. Jeff is not clear on what behavior other than just existing that is so embarrassing. Seriously, he is a quiet guy so it’s not like he is trying to be cool. Still, he remembers what it was like to have parents around when you have friends over to hang out in the air conditioning. So he has been looking for a locale to call his own. The basement was basically the only spot. But it was basically a family dumping site. The space was just littered with junk that one or all of his ladies weren’t willing to toss. So Jeff did that for them and then got in touch with the Heating and A/C tech. The lady put in a ductless heat pump so Jeff has air conditioning for the Summer.

So here is James once more. After thinking about it repeatedly, the time for execution of his air conditioning strategy is upon him. Well, James did the first two steps this Spring so getting started isn’t the right sentiment. He is now to the point where the Summer heat and humidity are for real and the hardest part of the plan commences. The Spring stuff was easier when it came to adopting a new approach to cooling his cabin. James started the new air conditioning plan with a tune up for the air conditioner. This way, he’ll be operating at max efficiency. And this Spring, he opted to leave the cooling off as much as possible so he could get used to the rising temperatures over time. Simply put, he just had to save money on the air conditioning in his cabin. Perhaps James is the outlier but the couple of years of inflation have hammered his budget. He is the sort of folks who simply lives paycheck to paycheck. Each month, there is a certain number that goes into savings or investments. But with inflation and no rise in pay, James had to address some cost cutting. Of course, one of the higher fixed costs for his cabin is the cost of air conditioning. James has a history of just doing whatever he wants with the thermostat setting all Summer. Well, not this year and that’s going to be the toughest part of the year. Yet, he can supply on disciplined thermostat control. He is convinced of it. His target is to shave 35 percent off the utility cost that comes with cooling his cabin from mid May through mid November.
