There is an outdated hunting lodge halfway up the mountains, about thirty miles away from the city. When I was a kid our dad used to take myself and others there. He said his dad had built it, however I easily don’t think the legal status of the site. As far as I think it is particularly off the grid. After I got evicted, & had a lot of bill collectors breathing down our neck, I decided that going off the grid was a great idea. I smashed our cell iphone, collected what currency I could, & went to live in that hunting lodge for a while. That ended up being 8 weeks, & in that time I l acquired a lot about heating, hunting, & survival. The more than three main elements of survival are shelter, heating, water, & food, in that order! Since I had shelter all taken care of I could focus on the next step, which is not just building a fire, however making sure I had a consistent source of heating for the weeks to come, but building a fire is simple, however heating a lodge for afternoons, or even weeks, on end requires a lot of manual labor. I had to cut & stack wood, as well as dissemble the furnace for a thorough cleaning before I used it, however once I had a reliable heating source I could find a ready source of clean water. Another reason heating is so crucial is to boil water. Because drinking stagnant water without warm it can make you unquestionably sick. Heating also lets myself and others cook our food.
