We don’t get the worst of Winter weather where we live.
It’s not as cold and miserable as it is a bit more north.
Conversely, we don’t get the sort of Summer heat that the deep south has to endure for like four or five months every year. Yet, like the south, we are able to navigate all of our heating and cooling needs with a heat pump. Just a three or four hours to the north and we’d need a gas furnace for our heating comfort in the Winter. But we’re lucky that the heat pump can still produce good heating during the Winter in this region. However, we just found out that a geothermal heat pump produces the very best heating we’ve ever encountered. This was the first Winter spent inside our new home. And we chose a geo heat pump for our residential HVAC. This was a choice based in both sustainability when it comes to resources and saving on heating and cooling costs. We witnessed heating and cooling cost continue to rise and rise over the past decade. We wanted to address that by going with a geothermal heat pump. This is really about the most efficient method of heating and cooling a house outside of solar. The radiant floor heating was simply fantastic this Winter. It was so cozy warm in our house and we saved almost 40 percent over what we paid for heating the year before. Summer is right around the corner now so I’m excited to see what impact the geo heat pump has on our cooling costs.
