I do my best to just sort of roll with the punches that life throws at me.
This is preferable to walking around continually frustrated, mad and having my blood pressure go nuts.
But when it comes to feeling like I’m just blatantly getting ripped off, I have to address those situations. When it comes to the commercial HVAC in the gym my wife and I belong to, we had to do something. We’ve lived here for the last five years as we moved for my wife’s job. She’s now up on the executive floors of her building where they even have zone controlled HVAC. Along with a killer view from her office, she even has a thermostat. We’re both into health and wellness so exercise is a big part of our lives. Well, there just aren’t many choice for working out where we live. So we’ve been sweating it out with HVAC equipment that is clearly overwhelmed, outdated, undersized or all of the above. Finally, we went to management to get a commitment from them that there would be an HVAC upgrade prior to signing on for another year. They upped our membership fees but gave us nothing in return so we felt like so simple air conditioning was not too much to ask. We had this conversation and the manager pretty much blew us off. He noted that it was indeed hot during the Summer but sweating more when we work out was good for us. Well, we’re now working out at home in our own air conditioning. No way were we paying extra to be miserable due to poor commercial HVAC in an already overpriced gym.
