When I opened the car door, I could feel the heat enveloping me.
I slid onto the seat and felt the seat’s heat burning my skin through my pants as I sat down.
I could barely hold on to the steering wheel, and I was having trouble keeping my eyes dry. I was going to start the car and wait to get back in until the air conditioner had cooled the interior, but there was no cooling taking place. My vehicle was even hotter than the tarmac temperature of 95 degrees due to the malfunctioning air conditioning equipment. I called the local service station and requested that they perform Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning maintenance on my vehicle. He informed me that if I arrived within fifteen minutes, he would pull the vehicle into a bay and inspect the HVAC system. If I arrived any later, he would leave and I would have to wait until Saturday. He didn’t work on the weekend. I jumped in my car and prayed I wouldn’t pass out before reaching the service station. It did not take him long to pull the vehicle into the bay, but he informed me that he would be unavailable until Saturday. He would inspect the HVAC system, but if it required replacement parts, he would have to wait. I requested that he diagnose the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and explain what was wrong. After ten minutes, he summoned me to the counter. He stated that the entire heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system must be replaced. He asked if I wanted to pay in advance, or if I was going to put a credit card on file and pay when he got the new HVAC system into the shop and installed it.
