The Heating, Ventilation and A/C specialist told me to walk this way

I wanted to know what the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) specialist was doing to our air conditioning unit.

When I walked outside, it was to ask him if he was going to work on the air conditioning unit or if he was just going to talk to it all afternoon, as he had been outside for nearly an hour and I had only seen him talking on the phone.

He instructed me to walk this way, which I did. Along with him, I waved my arms and walked with a duck-like gait to the maintenance van. He gave me a look that would have rendered anyone else immobile, but not me. I told him I was only doing what he requested, and he rolled his eyes in response. He demonstrated the fan motor and stated that it was defective. He was speaking on the phone with an HVAC company. He was attempting to determine if they had a replacement fan motor in stock or if they needed to order one. Since he discovered the broken fan motor while performing maintenance on the air conditioner unit, he believed there would be no charge. According to him, it would take a couple of afternoons to obtain the new fan motor, but it should last another ten years, which is the expected lifespan of the air conditioning unit. I apologized for being a smart aleck and for questioning whether he was in labor. He laughed and stated that he would have performed the same action. I found his advice on how to maintain and prevent future problems with the air conditioning unit to be quite helpful.
