I refused to pay for the air conditioner. (It was a refurbished)

It didn’t mean there was anything wrong with it, but it wasn’t covered under the warranty.

Last month, I bought a brand new air conditioning unit, and had it installed. The HVAC company asked if I was interested in a maintenance and repair agreement. I was hesitant at first because it had a full warranty, but when he said it covered the maintenance fees for all my annual work, it would save me money for the next two years. I agreed and put the cost in with my payment plan. Six months later, I was using the maintenance and repair plan for the first time. My air conditioning unit was not working. The HVAC technician arrived and asked me why I purchased a used air conditioning unit. I told him it wasn’t used. I had the air conditioning unit installed six months earlier. It was brand new, and I showed him the sales receipt. He showed me the tag on the inside of the AC unit. It clearly stated it was a refurbished AC unit. He said if people couldn’t afford the AC unit, or it was only slightly used, the AC unit would be cleaned and serviced, and sold as a refurbished item. It didn’t mean there was anything wrong with it, but it wasn’t covered under the warranty. I called the HVAC company and told them what the HVAC technician said. They assured me it was a brand new unit, until I put the HVAC tech on the line. They backed off, and said they would replace. I wasn’t going to pay for the air conditioner until I had a new one sitting in its place.
