I’m not sure why everyone talks about HVAC technicians and how much sleep they don’t get.
No one ever thinks about the wife of an HVAC technician.
There are no regular hours for my HVAC technician husband. He is always running late, or he is on call and I can’t keep up with him. I often eat without him, and his dinner is put in the microwave or the oven. I couldn’t tell you how many date nights we have had interrupted because his beeper went off, and he needed to go back to work. It got to where we didn’t go out unless he had the entire weekend off, and often he would still be on call. They always need a backup for the HVAC technician who was on call. If a second emergency came up and the HVAC technician was already dealing with an emergency, they had to have someone ready to go out. The last time my husband and I had an uninterrupted date night, was when we were on vacation. However, even then it wasn’t uninterrupted. We went into this new seafood restaurant that was on the waterfront. The humidity was horrible when you were outside, but it was even worse inside. My husband knew the air conditioning wasn’t working well. Instead of just asking if the HVAC technician was on the way, he offered his expertise. He said he didn’t think it would take very long to repair, because he thought it was just a clogged air filter. The only good thing was that we got our dinner for free, and a voucher for another free dinner any time in the future.
