My brother, his wife, and the kids came over to spend summer with my daughter and I. We had been talking about the best time for a visit to my neck of the woods. Everyone was excited when we had the dates set. See, I managed to purchase and renovate a lovely 5-bedroom beach house. I was searching for a house to purchase in the area, and the realtor happened to mention it. She knew I had a background in construction, so she was curious if I was interested in a house that would need some love. At first, I was hesitant, but when I saw it, plus the amazing ocean views, I was sold. The area isn’t too developed, and has an amazing community of mostly older folks. I purchased the beach house, and put my skills to work. Some of the upgrades I did included replacing the HVAC system. The previous owners were an older couple, and the house got out of control for them. The HVAC system was more than 20 years old, and it wasn’t running at all. So, that was the first thing to replace since we needed efficient cooling to stay comfortable in the beach house. I opted to go with the most energy efficient unit for our home. In addition, I wanted better quality since my child has some breathing complications.
