It’s still sort of unusual, and something that takes getting used to when you suddenly have to part ways with your life-long partner.
But that’s what seemed to be best for my husband & I.
Once the children were out of the house, and it was just me & him, it was pretty obvious that we were drifting. There was just so much silence inside all that home. We did the best we could to keep everything cool in order not to deal with each other. In fact, we both stayed late at work/ office just to avoid going home. Once we were frank about the situation, it was certainly a relief for us both. And there was no failure to it really. I mean, we’d been great partners, raised great kids and now it was time to come to terms with the fact that this was the limit of our relationship. So we met with a realtor, worked on updating some things, and did some projects to add value to the house before listing it. We also upgraded the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C unit to the latest in residential HVAC systems. This was a big seller. Now, I’m in a small 3-bedroom apartment and everything feels a bit unusual. However, I’m determined to be okay. It’s just funny how one doesn’t realize how some things over the years became your partner’s responsibility. For instance, the Heating, and A/C unit upkeep is now all on me. But I am doing very well since I started by signing up for the Heating & A/C repair plan provided by the HVAC business. Even so, I have to remember to set alarms on my phones in order to get the air filter changed on time. But, I think I can handle that.
