I have never in my life met anyone who loved working as much as my dad. I always remembered him whistling as he got ready in the morning, because he was stoked about going into the job for the day. He was equally happy to return home, so I didn’t think he picked the job over his family, he was just a man content with his life. He only retired last year because the job sort of pushed him out the door. His retirement package is healthy, and he won’t ever want for money, but he missed the work. He has started taking freelance jobs for heating and cooling repair around the neighborhood. Usually he works for food or coffee, just because he loves taking broken HVAC equipment and making it work again. As far as I am concerned, he should be able to enjoy his life whatever way he wants, even if that means working on air conditioners for free. I actually went on Facebook and made a post to my friends, saying that anyone who needs some HVAC work should contact my dad. No one responded at first, but eventually I had a couple people reach out to me with questions about air conditioners. I gave them my dad’s number, and said that he would give them free HVAC advice, and even do some minor repair work if need be. The economy is really tight right now and people need to save money where they can, so maybe my dad and his HVAC experience can help some people out.
