One of the things that really sucks if you don’t have anybody to teach you basic life skills is having to figure out how to do everything on your own. This has been my normal for as long as I can remember, I lost my mom when I was really young and my dad hadn’t wanted a kid so I never saw him. I have to learn most of my life skills through my friends, because even though I was raised by my grandmother she never really taught me anything. One of the most basic life skills I never even thought about until it was a problem was my heating and AC system. Apparently, my air filter needs to be changed every few months. This was something that had never crossed my mind and then I’m nervous and worried because something is wrong with the HVAC unit but I couldn’t figure out what. I called my local heating and I a/c business, entirely convinced that there was something wrong with my AC. They sent out a cooling specialist to service the problem. When the repair guy arrived he took one look at my key and a/c system and I could tell that he was having a hard time not laughing. He was really nice and gave me a brand new air filter for free and then educated me by telling me that I need to change the air filters every few months. Now changing the air filters is like second nature.
