Recently, I started to notice that my house was getting colder and colder.
It is true that I live in a cold area however, this is unusual even from my house.
Plus, we have been having some unusually warm and sunny days and so I was confused as to why I was having all this cold air. I’ll go to the thermostat and turn off or turn down the AC to prevent the cold air from the air conditioning system to allow the house to get too cold. However I noticed almost no change in the cooling of my AC system. The house was still feeling usually chilly, so I did a bit of investigation work because I knew that there must be something else that was at fault for this cold air and not the air conditioning unit. When I went around the house I was checking all the doors on windows from top to bottom and that is where I found my problem. The problem was my house was an older home and almost all of the weather stripping had been worn or had completely come out, now I was having a leakage of cold air from outside coming in all over the place. This whole time I had been having trouble sleeping at night because of how chilly the house was and I was convinced it was my air conditioning system. I had even made it a appointment with the HVAC business to have it fixed! But the AC isn’t the problem at all. I made a run down to the hardware store and installed some new weather stripping and haven’t had any problems since.
