One For All Air Conditioning

You only live once.

That is a saying that I first heard from my old man like 50 something years ago.

It’s now sort of a motto for a certain mindset. And honestly, for the first time in my life, I really understand just what that means. Perhaps working away inside the zone controlled HVAC of some highrise office is the perfect reality. I’m so not judging those who live that life. But for me, I just had enough already. By the time I was 52, I had that corner office with the thermostat. That was really something for me. Having my own thermostat in my office was like I had arrived. But that was really sort of sad. All that work, energy and sacrifice so I could have a bunch of stuff and a thermostat in my office? Finally, I could no longer live like that as just going to work inside that zone controlled HVAC was all I could do. But I knew that if I was going to do what I wanted to do, it’d come with a lot of changes. I had been out of my marriage for about 5 years and the dating thing just wasn’t for me. So when I quit my job, it was not so tough to turn loose of all the other stuff. I upgraded the HVAC equipment in my condo and sold it for a bundle. I got rid of most everything else as well. I bought a truck with a camper top and a trailer. That would be home. I was able to find the tiniest ductless heat pump for my heating and cooling inside the truck. And I just travel and write about my experiences. Beats the zone controlled HVAC of the office.

I remember growing up inside the quality heating and air of my dad’s house talking about girls and love.

My mom died when I was just a baby so dad was the main dude.

He was great then and he’s still so great now. But he used to tell me that I’d know I was in love when it happened. I’d just feel it. He also told me not to be surprised if I found the love of my life to different from what I thought I wanted. That’s certainly been the case as I’ve fallen deeply in love with an HVAC professional. I love to say that to people who don’t know us. It’s just fun to see the reaction on their faces. But it’s true, my wife is the owner of a local HVAC company. She took a struggling business that she joined as an HVAC technician and turned it into the best heating and cooling company in town. That’s pretty remarkable but then again, she’s a pretty remarkable person. We met inside the HVAC company. I had just moved to town, bought a house and needed to replace the HVAC equipment. Having made an appointment to meet with an HVAC contractor, I was ready for the burly guy I heard on the phone. But he was out sick so this lovely HVAC professional, who happened to own the business, stepped right on in. She and I both laugh at the coincidence but neither of us can deny that the attraction was almost immediate. The rest is history. I know I’ll have a great partner for the rest of my life as well as the best quality heating and air ever.

I didn’t think it was possible.

The news that I was getting married nearly made my 84 year old mother fall over.

But yea, at 52 years old, I’m getting married for the very first time. We had to prop that old lady up in the air conditioning she was so overwhelmed. I got pretty much the same reaction from all my coworkers inside the zone controlled HVAC at the office. Nobody thought I’d ever get married. I don’t know exactly why that is as I’ve had several serious relationships. But none of them was my person. Then, I met my person and getting married seemed like the most natural thing to do. My wife is the same age and believe it or not, we went to college together. In fact, I was a floor below her in the dorms where all we had was radiant heating. There was zero air conditioning other than buying a fan. Still, we never memorably knew each other. We attended some of the same events and even knew some of the same people. But 30 years later, we meet at a conference and the rest is wonderful. So once we get married, we’ve decided to build a house together. This is something that neither of us have done in our lives. So it’s cool that we’re getting to experience this together. For the quality heating and air part of the house, we are going with a very long term commitment. We’re using a geothermal heat pump for heating and cooling our new house. It’s so efficient, sustainable and reliable. Plus, the HVAC equipment lasts forever it seems. Just like this marriage will last.

To protect my health, I make sure I take these breaks inside the HVAC cooling and get my water.

I have a fairly big piece of property. This was always my dream when I was growing up in downtown apartments with radiant heating and zero air conditioning. I wanted space. The ability to simply move around without having to accommodate so many other people was all I wanted. It’s such a fortunate circumstance for me. But having a nice house with great, quality heating and air and a bunch of land takes effort. There’s not a lot of time for sitting in the recliner in the air conditioning. Although, I most definitely make time for that stuff. No, I really have plenty to keep me busy. Shoot just mowing the cleared land is a handful. And where we live, just cutting that grass in the summer can be overwhelming. I act much like the farmers around here and get after it at first light. Still, by like 10 in the morning, I’m getting to be crispy crunchy out there. So I do come inside the air conditioning to cool off a bit and rehydrate. The whole thing is the hydration. Too bad it took me so long to learn that fact. To protect my health, I make sure I take these breaks inside the HVAC cooling and get my water. But the HVAC unit is also providing additional health protection by balancing the humidity inside the house. This humidity balance mitigates mold growth which in turn, helps my respiratory system stay healthy. Indoor air quality is just as important, if not more important, than the outside air quality that I enjoy so much. I’m sure thankful for my quality heating and air.

A good a/c proposal is the key to a easily good night’s sleep.

• Over the years, I have l received this the hard way by having to spend the night in several uncommon rooms on uncommon days that do not have a/c.

It has never easily been our option because if it was ever our choice, I would regularly sleep in a room with central a/c. For instance, if I was at a sleepover at a friend’s lake house who did not have a/c, I would never be able to sleep through the night. I would wake up crabby plus mean because I just cannot sleep when it is too hot. The same thing has happened through the years whenever we have been at a relative’s lake house or even at a hotel or in a guest room separate from a/c. I never end up sleeping well, plus I regularly wake up grumpy. Unfortunately, I suppose that this just goes to prove the fact that central a/c is easily the key to having a good night’s sleep. I truthfully do not suppose that anyone sleeps easily well when they are overly hot. Even in the winter, I love to turn the control component down so that our room stays easily cool so that I can get a wonderful night’s sleep. If you are having trouble sleeping, let myself and others encourage you to try turning the control component down a few degrees! If your a/c is running more, I bet you will be sleeping more too. Everyone should at least give it a try.

The two of us just care about it cold and that’s always fine with us.

It’s just not always fine with our guests. Most of the time whenever every one of us have a lunch get together or every one of us host something else, the people who come into our lake house act care about they are walking into a walk-in freezer or something care about that… Even though every one of us keep the control device settings at around 65 degrees or so throughout the summer, every one of us just don’t suppose care about it’s ever easily all that cold in the house. I suppose most people don’t usually keep their control device settings that low during the summer. Anyway, the last time that every one of us had a get together, my husband thought that it would be a great plan to put out a bunch of extra blankets and some fuzzy slippers and socks for the guests. I thought that it would be a pretty great idea, but I distraught a little bit that it would be weird to offer people blankets as soon as they showed up at our house. However, all the people easily seemed to appreciate the gesture when they came in and grabbed a blanket, especially those who had been in our cold lake house before. Even though every one of us easily care about our air conditioning system, I still prefer having people over at our house. I suppose with our basket of stuff for our guests, every one of us can have the best of both worlds… From now on, I suppose every one of us are going to start doing this every single time that every one of us have people over.

I easily hated what I ended up doing when I went to university! I thought that I wanted to go to university and become an accountant or something care about that, but now I wish that I had become an Heating, Ventilation & A/C business instead.

I spent a whole lot of money taking out loans to use for my education, and now I’m not even using the degree that I got while I was at the university, and looking back on how I could have done things always makes myself and others suppose insane.

I wish that I would have done a lot of things differently, that’s for sure. It’s just one of those things that I can’t help now but hindsight is absolutely twenty-twenty, as they always say, then anyway, after I got out of university and I realized that I hated the tasks that I was easily trained for, I ended up going to our local technical university to get my heating and cooling certification, then once I started to learn all about the heating, cooling, and ventilation industry, I realized that I had missed my calling. I easily appreciated learning everything that there was to think about heating, cooling, and ventilation. I was a natural at it, too. I made easily great grades while I was training to get my Heating, Ventilation & A/C certification. I graduated at the top of my class and I found a task immediately after I finished with the classes. Now, every day that I go to work, I wish to myself that I had never even gone to university. I was born to be an Heating, Ventilation & A/C business.
