I’ve always had a very close relationship with my dad, we always did everything together and I love helping him out any opportunity I got. Even as a little kid. So when he called me on the phone the other day I was complaining that he was having trouble with this heating AC system I jumped at the opportunity to help him out. It’s even better because I work at a local heating and AC business so I’m the perfect person for him to ask about any of his heating or cooling needs. So I asked him what was up and what was going on, and he told me that he had the most annoying problem. His air conditioning system which had previously been blowing the most perfect cool air imaginable, was now going out here. The guy must really love his AC system because he must have spent the whole 10 minutes over the phone telling me about how great the cooling of this AC was. The surprising thing to me was that my dad didn’t even have a high-tech air conditioner, he had a window AC that he used but it was something that he swore by. I told him that I would come over to his place and take a look at it. When I got there I was confused because when I turned the window AC on and it worked perfectly fine, my dad then told me that it was a central AC unit that I was having the issue with and I checked the central AC and I discovered that it was needing some more freon. Once adding some the AC was blowing cold air again like it should have been and the problem was solved.

One of the great perks that I absolutely love about having a smart thermostat is the ability to adjust the temperature completely precisely. If I want to set the temperature to say, 85 degrees for example, I can do that without any issue. Maybe it was just a problem with my last Heating and cooling system, however, I had noticed that when I would go to adjust the temperature on my old thermostat I could never get the temperature to be exact. If I wanted the temperature to be at 72 for example, it would either go above the temperature and it would be 74 degrees, or would be under the temperature I wanted, like around 70 degrees. Either way you can see this is a problem because it wasn’t sitting to the exact immature I want, and let me tell you I’m really hot or cold these days it makes all the difference. I didn’t even know there was a solution to this, I just thought I was stuck with a poor running thermostat. That was until I got an advertisement in the mail for I still going on at the local heat and AC business. I figured it couldn’t hurt to go and see what other types of thermostats they had available. I’m really glad that I did too because it was there that I saw the smart thermostat that I ended up purchasing, as well as I meant a really cool HVAC tech that ended up teaching me all kinds of neat things about heating and AC technology. Now I never have to worry about my temperature, I know that when I set it it will be exactly where I wanted it to be.

One of the things that really sucks if you don’t have anybody to teach you basic life skills is having to figure out how to do everything on your own. This has been my normal for as long as I can remember, I lost my mom when I was really young and my dad hadn’t wanted a kid so I never saw him. I have to learn most of my life skills through my friends, because even though I was raised by my grandmother she never really taught me anything. One of the most basic life skills I never even thought about until it was a problem was my heating and AC system. Apparently, my air filter needs to be changed every few months. This was something that had never crossed my mind and then I’m nervous and worried because something is wrong with the HVAC unit but I couldn’t figure out what. I called my local heating and I a/c business, entirely convinced that there was something wrong with my AC. They sent out a cooling specialist to service the problem. When the repair guy arrived he took one look at my key and a/c system and I could tell that he was having a hard time not laughing. At first he was annoyed by this because I was concerned that this was a very serious problem, but he told me that there was nothing wrong with my HVAC unit but I simply hadn’t changed the filters. He was really nice and gave me a brand new air filter for free and then educated me by telling me that I need to change the air filters every few months. Now changing the air filters is like second nature.

All I need to do is approve hiring a handyman and spend some money on the bill

My mom had a rental property for all of my life. She was constantly going to what she called the Taft house. She was changing toilets, redoing siding, cleaning plus doing all sorts of work on her rental. It was annoying that we could never have a new deck, powder room or flooring, but the rental constantly seemed to get it. My mom spent a lot of time plus effort on that investment. When she passed away the Taft house was given to me. I instantly talked to a real estate agent about selling. When I saw how much money I could get for it plus how much the property made each month in rent, I noticed it was financially smarter to keep it. I didn’t want to do what my mother did though. Not only do I not have the handy skills she had, even though I don’t have the time she did. I work as a professor plus the last thing I want to do is come back home plus do another task. I started looking around for property management services. They handle all aspects of the rental. They hire out a lawn crew to mow the grass. They get a plumber if there is a leaky drain or a Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C serviceman if there is a problem with the cooling system. All I need to do is approve hiring a handyman and spend some money on the bill. I then just pay a fee each month for a property director to talk to my renters. I know it will be worth every penny having someone else take those calls.

When I obtained our home I noticed that particular things were not in great condition.

• My master bathroom has beige tile and what used to be white grout.

I tried cleaning it with serious chemicals that only made me think sick afterwards. I then got a grout paint and it was just a waste of cash. I thought I was doomed to have off white, gray and occasionally black grout lines all over our shower. I figured that I would need to redo the brick and grout sooner rather than later. My husband came up with the method of hiring a cleaning service. He said if the professionals couldn’t get our brick and grout cleaned up, then I needed to upgrade it. I can’t believe the difference in our bathroom now. The tile and grout cleaners took maybe an hour and now our bathroom looks brand new. They got the beige tile to undoubtedly look shiny rather than reflect soap scum. The grout all looks white again and like I had just redone it. What is nice is that there was vinyl flooring in the bathroom that was coming up in spots. The cleaning service has vinyl floor refinishing services as well. They serviced it and made the floors look that much better. I was hesitant to let them leave because I have more tile, more grout and lots of surfaces that look icky. I am going to keep an eye on areas in our home and see what they can do for me. My bathroom now doesn’t need to be updated anymore.

A new friend moved into the home across the street from mine.

The guy is a total dog.

Each afternoon he gets up so early and goes out to the garage to work out. The guy drags a weight bench out into the driveway and he proceeds to work out until 10 or 10:30. The guy never wears a shirt, but his arm muscles are bigger than the muscles in our legs. I finally got the nerve to go over and chat with that guy. I did not know what I was going to say, although I thought I would come up with something funny. As soon as the guy smiled at me, I completely and totally forgot what I was going to say. I stumbled over our words and I looked like a stupid head. The guy did not seem too anxious by our foolishness. He laughed and grinned. He told me his name and learned some additional information about him. He was an ex military guy. He was used to getting up early in the afternoon to physically work out. He told me that the routine was truly nice for his mental health. I totally understood that, because I struggle with mental health problems as well. The guy named Ian offered to work out with me every afternoon if I wanted to join him. I thought about saying yeah, but that is absolutely not a routine that I can maintain. I would rather look weak than look like a liar when I can’t lift the weight bar over my head.

 

Gym transformations

I enjoy going to the pool everyday after my office job to swim a couple of laps. Twenty or thirty laps can truly clear my mind and put things into the backburner. I used to go to the fitness center every afternoon after work to swim and use the steam room, and last week, the fitness center closed down the pool, steam room, and the sauna. They are performing updates and repairs. I’m a little sad, because the pool and the steam room are my main reasons why I joined the gym and paid a membership fee. With no use of our number one amenities, there truly is no reason for me to go to the fitness center right now. I called the management corporation and asked some questions about my membership fees. I asked them to put our membership on hold while the repairs are being made. They told me that was not their list. They weren’t able to stop our payments unless I was in the hospital or damaged in some way. The manager assured me that all of the renovations will be done by the end of next week. The construction corporation has the whole locale torn apart. I do not know if there’s any way the project will be finished before the end of next week, although I am hopeful. I would like to go back to the way that things were. I do not truly want to find another fitness center. This 1 is truly close to our house and they have the best orange, plum, and banana smoothies in the city.
