One For All Air Conditioning

It’s ironic that now when I once struggled to get any comfort from my home’s heating and cooling, I find myself enjoying it so much.

Because I’m the only guy in the house, this is what happened.

Furthermore, it seems that the internal thermostats of every woman I share a home with are very different from mine. I suppose that I simply have a much hotter metabolism than the rest of my family. In order to reduce my heating expenses during this time of year, I constantly try to lower the thermostat setting a little. However, the rest of the family sure does complain about it, man. In the winter, I mean, they can all tell when I raise the temperature even a degree. Or I’ll hear someone yell that the gas furnace will shut off the moment I lower the thermostat setting. But now that I have my own HVAC equipment, everything is different. No, I don’t live alone anymore, but after all these years, I do have a place of my own. I believe the pandemic taught me that my father needs his own space if I’m going to live to see the girls off to college. So for a few months, my friend and I worked on finishing the basement’s conversion. In addition to other amenities, this area now has walls, a door, a big-screen TV, and a ductless heat pump. Actually, it’s a pretty cool place to hang out in the lounge. And since I have a ductless heat pump of my own, I can get all the high-quality heating and air I need at my convenience.

It’s been a challenging winter for me, and I think we’ve reached a turning point in terms of deciding where to live.

There was a lot of value added because we replaced the old home’s roof and upgraded the HVAC system.

And we were thrilled to realize a profit on our principal investment. My husband and I have always hoped that having our home would be the deciding factor in our decision to retire. We were pleasantly surprised by how much money we made from selling our house. That gave us much-improved confidence as we exited our offices’ commercial HVAC. We were, however, at a loss as to what to do regarding retirement living. So, with a new gas furnace, we rented a small home. I’m incredibly grateful for that gas furnace because I’ve spent the entire winter trying to recover from an injury. I broke several bones, including my hip, when I fell in the first snow of the year, which was actually quite early. A hip replacement and winter of rehabilitation followed as a result. Happily, however, the residential HVAC system that was brand-new when we moved in has kept me comfortably warm inside this rental home. The warm, comfortable house with all the heating I need has been wonderful, without a doubt. Another thing I’m grateful for is how much less expensive heating is now compared to what I used to pay for that big house. I believe that the fact that this injury was caused by snow may be all we need to move south and enjoy all that air conditioning instead of all this heating.

Knowing about HVAC systems helped me win at trivia the other night when I was there with my friends.

It was the funniest thing because my friends think that I don’t really know much about anything. Unbeknownst to them, I grew up in a family of heating and cooling professionals. I spent every summer working on furnaces and air conditioning systems when I was a kid growing up in high school. I learned just about everything that there was to know about HVAC systems when I was young. Now, I’m in college and we don’t often have reasons to talk about HVAC systems! So most of my friends had no idea that I knew anything about the heating and cooling profession at all. Anyway, we were all there playing trivia and suddenly, they changed one of the categories to heating and cooling systems! I had never seen this category in trivia before, and my ears perked right up! My friends all thought that our team was going to lose at that point because none of them knew a thing about HVAC systems. However, I was there to save the day because I knew the answer to every single question that came up! I basically swept the entire category and everyone was just blown away by the fact that I am an expert on heating and cooling systems. I was pretty proud of myself, I have to say. I guess all of that time spent learning about HVAC systems wasn’t wasted after all! Who knows, maybe I will end up working in the HVAC industry someday myself.

Because the electricity went out the other night, there was no heating at the campground where we were staying. I always liked going to the campground because it was so rustic and we had fun in the great outdoors, but on this night it was just a little too rustic! We had planned on going to the campground together to spend a couple of nights and get back to nature. We were planning on having a big fire and making smores and hotdogs and things like that. However, we ended up having to leave the campground because of the fact that the electricity went out all of a sudden. Usually when we go camping, we take a gas powered generator with us so that we can run the heating system if it’s cold. Once, we even had to run the air conditioning with the generator because it was so hot outside when we went camping! Usually that is not the case, though. We found out that it was going to be really cold that night, but we didn’t want to cancel our trip, either. We decided that even though the temperature was really cold, we still wanted to go on our little adventure. Little did we know, though, that the campground was going to lose power! We had to hook up the heating system to the generator so that we wouldn’t freeze overnight! It still wasn’t very warm, but we were able to get some sleep, at least. Next time we go camping, I’m hoping that we won’t have to use the heating system at all!

Kids have the wildest imaginations, don’t they? That is one of the joys of raising them, is that I get to experience these particular and original thoughts! As people get older, they start to do and say the things they are supposed to, then society teaches us what are the familiar beliefs to hold, and everyone “go along to get along.” With young youngsters you get raw unfiltered ideas, things you might have never heard before! The other night our 4-year-old Elle told me that he heard ghosts in the ceiling and he was scared to sleep by herself, and i laid down with her, and an eighth later I heard the strange sounds he described! It wasn’t a ghost, though, it was an pet crawling through the HVAC duct… This has happened to me before, and I suppose how much of a hassle it is to get a residing creature out of the small confines of an air duct ventilation system.

The first thing I did was close off all the air vents, to keep it from wriggling into the house.

I looked around outside the house until I saw the exterior air duct shaft that had a broken corner. It was only a few inches wide, however this gap was an open door into the HVAC duct, and I was lucky if there weren’t a lot more pets in there! I put some food outside that broken gap in the HVAC duct, hoping the pet would leave our house to eat, then no such luck! Now I have to call pet control and an Heating and Air Conditioning dealer.
