Our son Max told us how he wanted to go to the Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C professional’s school. I was upset with his option of a career because of the difficulties he had in high school. Max was in special needs classes because of his lack of expertise. Max had to job several times harder than other students to get through his studies plus retain what he was learning. I thought Max was setting himself up for failure, however our spouse told me to stay out of it. It was Max’s decision to go to Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C technical school, plus he was sure Max would be fine. I’m not sure who those first weeks were more hard on; me or Max. I was always fretting that he was going to come to the house plus tell me they kicked him out of class, however he didn’t. Max holed up in the den with his father, plus they studied together. After several grueling weeks, he was understanding what he was doing plus doing it well, then by the end of the year, Max was at the top of his class, plus going out on training sessions with his Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C instructor. The next hurdle Max had to overcome was the certification classes. Once again, Max plus his father were in the den, studying together nearly every evening. When the class instructor asked him to be the apprentice at his Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C business, I wasn’t sure who was more proud: Max or his father. They were triplets plus also Heating, Ventilation, plus A/C professionals. I got questioned by all of them, plus I must have given them the answers they needed. They hired me that same afternoon.

For years, our wife Max had been looking for the perfect task.

I’m getting a tan, listening to some classic music, and making money all at the same time.

Whoever said that work can’t be fun? This sure beats sitting in my cubicle at my desk job as an engineer back in the day I tell you what! Yes, I don’t make anywhere near what I made back then, but I have cut my living expenses way down and I am able to live a good quality of life only working part time and working where I want to work and when I want to work.

Heating and cooling components are what I mainly write about, although sometimes I write about air purifiers and things like that. I tossed my engineering degree in the garbage a long time ago and never looked back, and I am much happier now than I was with all of that money back then. I would spend most of my money on things like smart thermostats and geo heat pumps, when I really didn’t need them in the first place. But when you work a lot of hours at a job that you really don’t care about you look for ways to reward yourself like I was doing back then. Now I don’t worry about whether my air conditioner and heating system are brand new and top of the line, I am more concerned about having free time and time to do things that I really enjoy doing. I spend a lot of my time with friends and at the beach, and I think that is a much better life for me in the end.

I have to do about 45 minutes of work online and then I am going to do some work around the house and hit the road with my brother.

I don’t have a car anymore and am visiting the Sunshine State for a few weeks, so I have to get rides for family and friends as much as I can to avoid using Uber too much. I don’t have a lot of money for this trip as the plane ticket set me back over a thousand bucks, so I am trying to take it easy with the spending. HEPA filter cleaning is the agenda today as far as manual labor goes, and then the rest of my physical work is going to be exercising with my TRX straps and doing yoga. I am going to hang out with my brother for a couple of hours and then see an old buddy for a few more hours later on today. I have a bike I can use, which is great because it has its own built-in climate control system; Mother Nature. I like not having to drive a car anymore, as I have been living overseas in a small town, but when coming back to the States it is a bit tricky to get around. I am going to clean the A/C filter in my aunt’s HVAC system today and am going to also try to seal her ductwork later this week since she has some leaks in it that we discovered recently. It should only take a couple of hours to do.

My father has always been odd, but he got worse when mom and I started an animal shelter in our backyard.

We thought it would be our donation to the animal community, but dad hated it. We had to install a different HVAC system in the house, and we needed to make changes in the backyard. He walked around grumbling about how much it cost to have an animal shelter, and how he was tired of it, and there weren’t any animals yet. He and mom argued about the cost of the new air filters, and that she didn’t want an air purification system until we talked about the animals. He said he had wanted a new HVAC system, but the cost was always prohibitive. Mom thought that rescuing animals and finding homes for them was more important than the cost of a new HVAC system. I could understand dad’s concerns, but I also knew how mom felt. When dad moved into the garage, I knew it was more serious than I had imagined. He called the HVAC company and had a new ductless HVAC system installed. While waiting for the HVAC system, he had a bathroom installed, complete with a shower, and petitioned off an area for a private bedroom. The lock on the door was the final straw for mom. She said she didn’t get married to sleep alone. Dad told her he didn’t get married to have animals take over his home. I could see my family falling apart, but as deep into animal rescuing as mom was, I could only see it getting worse.

My suggestion was that I get rid of the animals

Two years ago, I was the proud owner of a baby cocker spaniel. My wife wasn’t sure if she liked the dog and asked if she could have a chihuahua. I figured that since I chose the dog of my choice, she should have one that she wanted. Over the next two years, those adoptions turned into the adoption of twelve more pets. We had a pot belly pig, a skunk, two raccoons, six cats, and our two dogs. Whenever a new rescue pet came into the rescue center, my wife had to bring it home and nurse it while waiting for it to be adopted. If it had been that easy, I wouldn’t have complained, but most of the animals never got adopted. I had to change the air filters every week, instead of once a month, and my house still smelled of animals. Our home was less than five years old, and it smelled like a barn. I called the HVAC company and inquired into a whole-home air purification system. I thought the air purifier would take care of all our problems. The HVAC technician told me the air purification system would help with some odors, but it wouldn’t eliminate them. He suggested I use an extra filter that was made just for families with animals. My suggestion was that I get rid of the animals. I think he thought I was kidding about the animals, but I wasn’t. Before the menagerie, I had a beautiful home that smelled as clean as it looked, and I wanted that back.
