It is cold compared to most people’s houses

I love visiting other people’s houses. I really like to decorate, and when I visit other’s houses I get ideas for my own home. I tend to redecorate my house once every couple of years. It is not that it needs it; I just love to do it. My husband does not understand why I love it so much, but he is very supportive of my passions, and he seems to like the new look every couple of years. My house has had sort of a farmhouse theme for the past two years, and although I really like it, it is not something that I plan to keep for much longer. I have visited many friends in the past two years, and I think I will be going for more of a boho look in my house next. While visiting so many people, I have realized that I tend to keep my house quite a bit cooler than most people do. I find myself sweating when I am in other people’s houses. It is the middle of August, and prefer to keep our house around sixty degrees all summer long. I never realized that sixty degrees was cooler than most people kept their houses until this summer. I guess most people keep their houses around seventy degrees . I tried to set my thermostat to seventy to get used to it, but it only lasted a day before I could not stand it any longer. Now, I understand why so many people told me that my house was cold. It is cold compared to most people’s houses. I guess I will just have to live with the fact that I am not normal.

My husband and I bought an old farmhouse about three years ago.

I had always wanted to live in a farmhouse.

Something about it just appealed to me. I am still glad that we chose to buy the farmhouse, but it is honestly a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. One of the hardest things to deal with is the draft we get upstairs during the Autumn and Winter months. If there are ever heavy winds, which there are quite often, it is hard to keep the house warm. Our daughter’s room is one of the rooms that gets the coldest during the windy nights. My husband suggested that we buy her a little heater for her room. I actually found a small space heater at a garage sale, and it was brand new and still in the box. I got it for less than ten dollars, and I could not be happier. We put it in our daughter’s bedroom, and we keep it on low most nights, but if the winds are really heavy, we put it on high. It does a great job at warming up her room and keeping it warm. I am so glad that I found a space heater for such a good price, and that it works for what we needed it for. Our daughter loves that she does not have to leave her bedroom at night because it gets too cold. With the space heater in her room, she rarely complains about being cold. It is so nice to have some peace of mind, and I am thankful that she can get some much needed rest.

Remodeling a house can be quite a project. My husband decided that he wanted to do all of the remodeling himself. He is a great carpenter, and he is very skilled in many other areas as well, so I had no doubt that he would do a great job remodeling our house. I was just worried that he would not have very much time to do it. It was definitely a legit concern because we have discovered over the past year that he does not have very much time to dedicate to remodeling the house. He has finished the upstairs bathroom, and most of our bedroom, but that is it. He still has to do the kitchen, living room, and downstairs bathroom. I am the most excited for the living room. I love to cook, and I do spend a lot of time in the kitchen, but to me what makes a house a home is the living room. We visited some distant family about six months ago, and they had a smart thermostat in their house. It was one of the coolest things that I have ever seen. They explained to us how they can change the temperature of their house from just about anywhere. My husband and I were both fascinated by it, and we decided that we wanted one in our home. What better time to have one installed than when we are remodeling the living room? My husband is planning to start the living room next month, and I cannot wait. I am so excited to have a smart thermostat.

I love my husband so much, but he has a thing for getting weird gifts for people.

He does not even know that he does it though which makes it even more hilarious.

One year, he bought his mom a treadmill for Christmas, and she about killed him. It was really funny to watch. She wanted a treadmill, but the fact that her son got it for her made her feel quite self conscious. I would have told him not to get it for her, but he never told me what he bought her, and it did not come in the mail until the day before we went to her house to celebrate. He has bought me quite a few funny gifts throughout the years, and last Christmas was no exception. I saw a relatively large box with my name on it under the Christmas tree for about two weeks, and I could not figure out what it was. When I opened it up, I found that it was an air conditioner. I laughed my head off, but I was seriously happy to get an air conditioner. He heard me talk about how hot it gets in our bedroom during the summer months, and he wanted to make sure I was cool enough. I honestly have trouble sleeping sometimes because it is so hot in our bedroom. We have air conditioning downstairs, but the upstairs gets really hot during the summertime. I was really surprised that he remembered and bought me an air conditioner for Christmas though. I think it was quite sweet of him.

My husband and I have always dreamed of building our own home one day, but we never really thought that it would be a reality.

We have been saving for ten years now, and we finally have enough saved to start the project of a lifetime.

I cannot believe that it is actually happening. We purchased the land that we want to build on a couple of months ago, and it is absolutely gorgeous. For right now, we decided that we wanted to save as much money as possible by living in our fifth wheel camper on our new property rather than renting or paying a mortgage. We have lived in the camper for about four months now, and it was not too bad until one cold winter night when we lost our furnace. I guess the furnace just had enough and gave up the ghost. It quit at around one in the morning, and we did not figure it out until around five o’clock. We woke up to a freezing, cold camper. Thankfully, we were able to thaw our pipes, and none of them burst. My husband did some quick research and decided that we would buy a propane fireplace as our main source of heat for the camper. We went to the store and bought a propane fireplace. It was a beautiful cherry wood, and I actually really like the cozy feeling that it gave to the camper. The only issue that we had with the propane fireplace was the smell. We did not realize how strong the smell of propane is. We are glad it is only temporary.

I can’t think that I entirely dropped my heater down the stairs.

• It makes me so mad to suppose that I was that careless.

I decided to carry the heater on my own even though it was a little too heavy for me to carry by myself. It is a propane heater that is quite large. My spouse has no concern carrying it by himself, so I thought for sure that I could carry it with no issues by myself. I picked up the heater, & I soon realized that it was much heavier than I thought that it would be. I should have stopped right then & waited for my spouse to move the heater for me, although I was too prideful to wait for help. I carried it to the dining room with no problem. I set it down in there to take a little break. Again, I should have just left it there & waited for my spouse, although I picked the big heater back up & started carrying it out to the garage. There is a flight of stairs leading down to our garage, & I knew that it would be difficult carrying it down those stairs because the heater was so giant that I could not see where I was stepping, well, I missed a step & basically threw the heater down the steps as I was trying to catch myself. It was super scary, & I am cheerful that I didn’t fall down the stairs with it. The heater did not work after that fall either which made matters even worse. I had to tell my spouse all about the heater experience when he got home, & it was so embarrassing.

I have dropped a lot of things lately.

• It has been quite frustrating to me because I am not usually a clumsy person.

I rarely drop things. I dropped a pot of chili while walking down my sidewalk a few afternoons ago. I broke the dish that it was in, & I spilt the chili everywhere. It was quite a mess. It looked like someone threw up all over the sidewalk. That was not nearly as poor as what happened on Sunday. I was trying to move my cooling system downstairs, & I ended up dropping it down the attic steps. I was so frustrated. It broke a giant chunk of plastic off of the cooling system, & it looks pretty homely. Thankfully, the cooling system still works just fine. It just doesn’t look as nice anymore. I entirely decided to put the cooling system in my family room instead of putting it in the kitchen like I usually do just because I am embarrassed of how it looks. I have friends over all of the time, & I am sure that one of them if not all of them would have asked about what happened to my cooling system if I would have put it in the kitchen for everyone to see, however now, I am the only one who has to see the hideous looking air conditioning in my family room, however even though I am frustrated with myself for being so clumsy & dropping the cooling system down the stairs, I am super thankful that it still works, & I don’t have to buy another one.
