When we consulted with an HVAC professional recently, he was telling us about all kinds of interesting heating systems we could go for.

• Initially, I just wanted to have our boiler replaced because it was so old.

We did have somebody check out the boiler system the previous year and he was saying how they didn’t build boiler systems that last long like that anymore. I wasn’t sure if what he was saying was accurate or not, but that did make me consider keeping the boiler for longer. Unfortunately, even though the boiler worked fine, I didn’t like the costly energy bills. Even with the house being sealed up for the winter season, the heating bills were still pretty darn expensive. This time, I was adamant about going for a heating system upgrade. The professional who came out this time was telling us about dual fuel heating systems which seemed nice to have. While many of the heating systems were interesting, nothing really stood out to us like radiant heated floors. The guy was saying that we could get a very nice boiler system that was built to last around 40 years and radiant heated floors would require minimal maintenance. He even said they were so confident in their installations and HVAC brands, that there would be a 25 year warranty, which isn’t too shabby! So we went for the radiant heated floor installation and so far we have been loving it! The only thing that was advised was switching our floors to tile ones, so that the heating could be radiated better through our home, and that was a good move!

Recently, my wife decided to volunteer for the school.

She wanted to help our daughter out in her math class and she was also invited to represent the head start program at the school for children who suffered from delays.

I really must say, I’m proud of her for doing her part to help out the community. I remember her telling me about her orientation which was interesting. She said all the people were very polite, kind, and knowledgeable. The only issue was that for some reason, the heating system was on the fritz. She said that the heater was cranked and she asked everybody if they felt like it was too hot in the building. Everybody agreed that the heater was way too high. Somebody apparently called the HVAC specialist, but he couldn’t make it out to the school until later in the day. They were at least able to turn on a couple of fans while she was at the orientation meeting, but she told me that she couldn’t wait to get out of that building. She says that likely, the issue with the heating system wouldn’t last for very long, but she was so happy when she got outside where the cool temperatures made her feel comfortable. She didn’t even turn the heating system on in the car when she drove back home. She says she looks forward to the meetings in the future because they get to vote on the important issues going on at the school. It sounds quite exciting. I just hope they don’t have any HVAC issues down the road, perhaps they can vote on getting an updated HVAC soon or at least preventative maintenance.

The other day, I kept asking everybody in the house if they were feeling cold.

I mean, earlier in the day, the temperature wasn’t so bad.

We actually had a nice sunny day until we got into the afternoon hours. By that time, it was starting to rain and the temperatures were dropping quickly after that. I didn’t even have the HVAC system running because it was such a nice day after having a bunch of cold days. Well, even though everybody told me the temperature was just fine, I still went to the thermostat to turn the heating system on. Feeling the additional warmth from the heating system felt nice. I didn’t want to crank the temperatures too high, because I didn’t want an expensive energy bill just because I was using the heating system. Well, the temperatures continued to drop and my wife actually asked me why I turned the heating system on in the first place. I gave her an incredulous look. I asked her if she had any idea how cold it was outside. The temperature outside was already in the 40s, even though it was in the 70s earlier in the day before the rain was coming down. She didn’t believe me until she went to take the dog for a walk. She said she had to get the umbrella, and the dog didn’t even want to stay out for very long because it was so chilly out there. She finally admitted that it was a good idea to turn the heating system on afterall, or we would have been freezing in the house.

When I was talking to my brother the other day, I was surprised when he told me he recently installed his own HVAC system.

I had to ask how in the world he was able to manage such a thing.

I actually called around to different HVAC companies and got quotes for different types of HVAC installations. When my brother said he installed a ductless mini split, that shocked me even more. One of the HVAC companies recommended going for a ductless mini split system, talking about how energy efficient it was and how I could have a bunch of different zones with customized temperature control settings. My brother smiled and said that he installed 4 zones on his own. He said he was considering going for a 5 zone system, but they were out of stock when he went to purchase his system. He explained that the system was delivered quickly, and the delivery was actually free! He then went on to tell me that he studied different installation videos until he was confident he could take care of the installation on his own. He actually went for a DIY system with all the wiring labeled and the line sets color coded for easy installation. He told me he thought the installation would be more difficult, but it was actually fairly straightforward. When I asked him if he could help me with this type of installation, he said it would be no problem. I’m really excited because next week, I should be getting the new HVAC system, and my brother said to call him as soon as it arrives at my home!

I travel a lot for work both in the state that I live in and out of town, however the schools are scattered all over the country so at any given time, I could be away for work.

Typically, my assignments require that I am gone for 6 or more weeks, and while that is a long time to be away from home, I have grown used to it; Especially now that I have been using corporate housing instead of hotels. I remember when I first began to travel, in addition to I stayed in hotel suites for weeks at a time. It was so painful not being able to cook or eat the things I wanted to because the hotels didn’t have the necessary amenities. I switched from hotels after meeting another consultant at a conference who told myself and others about her corporate condo in addition to how much she loved it. That morning my entire life changed in addition to traveling became so much better. I began to stay in corporate apartments in addition to fell in appreciate with them! Not only did these apartments have the same amenities as a hotel that include a gym, office space, pool, in addition to more, however they were also cheaper than staying in a hotel. Additionally, the apartments have fully stocked family rooms, so I was able to cook my meal in addition to they have enough room for myself and others to entertain family in addition to friends without feeling appreciate every one of us are cramped in a small space, then one thing’s for sure, when I travel for work, I will skip the hotel in addition to opt for a corporate condo instead.

I live in an part where the people I was with and I are prone to storms as well as hurricanes, however the rainy season usually lasts from May to November as well as during that time of the year, the people I was with and I will see some heavy downpours; And of course, with rain, some people might experience flooding, in addition to rain, some areas will get hit with tornadoes as well as most of the state is prone to hurricanes, but so, you can only imagine how hectic things must be during the rainy season, but both of us have to make sure that the people I was with and I are regularly ready just in case the people I was with and I are faced with a disaster.
