We had our HVAC equipment replaced about 6 years ago. When we bought the house, we inherited the HVAC equipment. It was decent enough HVAC equipment and had life left in it. So we had the seller knock a bit off the price in order for us to keep the HVAC unit. And it did fine for about 5 years which is what we had hoped for. But once the heating and cooling costs spiked, we knew that it was time to replace the HVAC unit. So we worked with the HVAC company who did the HVAC maintenance and it couldn’t have been easier. The HVAC contractor actually came to our house to discus our options and inspect the ductwork. We were able to see all the different options when it came to new residential HVAC. My wife really pushed for going all in on the new HVAC technology but I was more interested in keeping the costs down. We compromised with getting the best HVAC technology on the equipment with a SEER rating that was super efficient. But we didn’t go with the smart thermostat that was new at that point. So six years later, I finally had the HVAC company install a smart thermostat. I had gone to the trouble of learning how to program the old thermostat so I thought I was getting all the HVAC savings possible. Well, after just one month of HVAC cooling, the smart thermostat saved an additional 15 percent over the savings that I’d previously seen. We’re sure glad to have the smart thermostat from a savings perspective as well as its convenience factor.
My husband is a really great HVAC technician and he loves his job. He is honestly one of the people who is best suited for a service job that I have ever met. He is super friendly and kind, and he always has really great jokes for people. People just love him, and they all always want him as their HVAC technician. Everybody who has ever had him come over to their house to work on their air conditioning system or their furnace has said so. If I were a jealous woman, then we would definitely have problems in our marriage because all of the women talk about what a hunk he is. However, I am not jealous at all and I am very secure in our relationship so most of the time I just laugh about it. I think that he is a hunk too. Whenever he is dressed up in his HVAC technicians uniform, he is super handsome and I think that that really helps him develop a good rapport with the women that he goes to work for. The little ladies especially love him. He really knows what he's doing when it comes to fixing HVAC systems too. People never have to call him back to come and do a return job because he did not do it right the first time. There are a couple of other HVAC companies who are trying to get him to leave his current company and come and work for them instead, but I don't think he's going to do that. I think he's pretty happy where he's at. He’s loyal to his current HVAC company just the same way that he is loyal to me.
I am not a jealous guy, but I am starting to get irritated with my wife because she simply will not stop talking about how handsome the HVAC technician was who came to our house last week. Enough is enough, in my opinion. I mean, I can understand the fact that she mentioned it once, but over and over again is a little bit of overkill, if you ask me. It’s not like I’m insecure in my manhood or anything like that, but I am honestly pretty sick and tired of hearing about how great this HVAC technician looked in his uniform. She keeps saying that when he jumped out of the HVAC truck, she thought that he had been sent as a joke from one of her friends for her birthday! She thought that he was going to start playing music and dancing around the house while he took off his HVAC uniform or something! I mean, when a husband hears that kind of thing from his wife, of course it is going to start to annoy him after a while. I know that he was a good looking HVAC technician, but enough is enough. As a matter of fact, I think that I’m going to stop doing business with that particular HVAC company from now on. I don’t want that guy coming back to our house again, no matter how great of a job he ended up doing on fixing our central air conditioning system for us. It’s not worth hearing about it from my wife over and over again for weeks on end.
Our parents are thinking about moving out of the house where we grew up . They are thinking about finding a more energy efficient home somewhere close by where they will be able to save a lot of money on their heating and cooling bills. I can’t say that I really blame them for doing this, although I will say that I will really miss my childhood home once they move out of it. It is true that the heating and cooling system in the old house really leaves a lot to be desired, though. I think that the furnace in the house has been there since before I was born, and I was a baby whenever they installed the current central air conditioning system. Not only that, but the thermostat system is a relic, too. I know that the whole place will probably end up being gutted and completely updated by the next family that purchases it, and that will be sad to see. But it’s a great house as long as it gets some tender loving care from a new family. My parents just don’t need all that much space anymore and so they want a place that has a heat pump or some solar panels so that they can have really energy efficient heating and cooling. I hope that they are able to find something that’s really close to our house because we still want to have them around! I guess that we will be hosting holidays from now on, though, because they probably won’t have enough room after they get moved.
My mom always told me that imitation is a very sincere former flattering, but I have to admit that sometimes it just gets on my nerves. Our neighbors who live across the street from us seem to be watching our every move these days, and they have started to do everything the same way that we do it. It's super annoying sometimes. I have started to feel like we are being spied on all the time and it’s a really unnerving feeling. Even though I know that they are harmless people, I just can’t help but feel creeped out and like they have binoculars on us all the time. The most recent thing that they did is the most creepy of all. We had the local HVAC company out to the house the other day to install a new smart thermostat system for us in the house. We had been in need of a new thermostat system for a while, but we had waited around until this month to get it done at the same time that we were going to be having our central air conditioning tuned up for the summer. Well, after the HVAC technicians finished up with the thermostat installation and the air conditioning tune up, they went out to the driveway to leave. Our neighbors actually ran across the street and up to the HVAC truck and they asked the HVAC technicians what we were having done in the house! Then they asked them if they knew what security code we were using for our new smart thermostat!
I know that this is probably going to sound a little bit crazy, but it's pretty sure that my husband loves his dog more than he loves me. In his defense, the dog has been around longer than I have. However, I really think that he spoils the dog way too much for its own good. I always roll my eyes at him whenever he’s feeding her a filet mignon steak for her birthday dinner or when he has to give her an after dinner ride in the car every single day of our lives. He gets mad at me when I roll my eyes at this blatant spoiling of the dog, but I really had to put my foot down earlier this month whenever the weather started heating up. My husband decided that it was just too hot out on the back porch for his dog and so he wanted to put an air conditioning system out there for her. Mind you, the porch is very well ventilated and there is even a ceiling fan and a window unit air conditioning system out there. But that little window unit air conditioning system just isn’t good enough for his perfect little princess doggy. He says that he wants to buy a ductless mini split air conditioning system to put out on the porch for her, just in case the indoor air quality isn’t good enough for her. I just think that it’s one more thing that he doesn’t really need to spend money on. Sometimes I think that he is just ridiculous.
Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery
I am really loving my new smart thermostat. I got it about six months ago, and already I am becoming dependent on it. It’s really great at reminding me of the things that I need to do around here that I somehow always seem to forget about. The older I get, the more I notice that I forget things that I normally wouldn’t. I’m not all that sure what is going on with me, but it’s super annoying, that’s for sure. Anyway, the new smart thermostat is really helping me out with a lot of that. For instance, it has learned my family’s schedule and so the thermostat turns the air conditioning off and on for us whenever it knows that we are going to be home or not. It’s so helpful, and I know for a fact that we are going to be saving all kinds of money on our heating and cooling bills because of it. Usually, I just let the air conditioning run all day whenever we aren’t home because I forget to turn it off in the mornings before I leave for work. Not only is the thermostat helpful with turning the air conditioning system off and on, but it also has reminded me twice already that it’s time to replace my air filter in the HVAC system. That’s something that I never remember to do on my own and so I was really excited when I saw that little reminder on my smartphone. I think that this new smart thermostat is just going to be great for us all the way around and I am so glad that we purchased it.
